Family Engagement

The school has a pastoral support team that offers early help to families and children, to support them before situations get to crisis

point. The leads in this team are also our Safe Guarding Team of Mrs Scothern, Mrs Davey and Mrs Simmons and our SENDCo Mrs Davenport.

They remove barriers to children’s learning, build relationships with parents and carers and are the link between school and home.

They support issues such as housing, homelessness, finances, domestic abuse, mobility difficulties, health problems, parents in prison, bereavement, attendance, parenting capacity, family separation, attachment issues and any other things that will be having a negative impact on children and families.

School and Nursery provide: uniform swap shops, a take and donate rail and through our pupil premium action group- consider the cost of the school day

School provides families with support linked to literacy, reading, numeracy and online safety cafes.

School has a well-established playa and stay program as well as a SEND Coffee morning.

Family library time is established with our youngest pupils and their families.

Food poverty, uniform and equipment, extra tuition and homework clubs are all provided for our families. School’s extracurricular program is free for all pupils.

They are able to provide high quality interventions and signpost effectively.

The school staff have strong links with our local Family Hubs, Early Help and Local Offer.

As a school we build strong relationships up with parents/carers so that they reach out and communicate with us if life events or circumstances require advice or assistance.

We support toy appeals, Christmas support and link families with charities and churches in our community and community centres across Seaham.
