KS1 – Year 2

Mrs Reed and Mrs Robson are the Teachers in Year2.

Miss Smith, Mrs Slee, Mrs Hanlon and Miss Armstrong are Teaching Assistants.

A child working in Year 2 is approaching the end of KS1 (Infants) and beginning to make the transition to KS2 (Juniors).

In class your child will focus on making as much progress as possible in reading, writing and numeracy skills. There will be lots of opportunities to practise these skills in all areas of their curriculum.

They will work as a whole class, in smaller groups, pairs and 1-1 with the class teacher and two experienced teaching assistants throughout the day.

Every term, we choose a topic to learn about and through the chosen topic we teach Science, Geography, History, PE, RE, Art, Design and Technology, ICT and Music.

Independence and responsibility are key words used in Class 4 and these are linked to learning and social skills.

Pupils are given the opportunity, if they wish to be…

o a buddy (helping younger children play nicely on the yard)

o elected school council member

o help with equipment, eco warrior and many more.
