Our Success

Here at Westlea Primary School we celebrate everybody’s successes, both in school and outside of school. We have a Celebration Assembly on Friday mornings where we find out who has been working hard through the previous week.

Star of the Week

Each week, the staff in each class choose a Star of the Week. During Celebration Assembly, the whole school get to hear what each child has done to earn the award.

Rights Respecting Award

Each week one child from each class is chosen for this award for displaying qualities related to our ‘right of the week’.

Class Points

Each class is awarded class points for whole class achievements. The class with the most points in each Key Stage are awarded with the class points dog.

Extra-curricular activities

We also like to celebrate children’s achievements outside of school. The children are invited to bring in their awards to show their friends and explain what they did to achieve them.

Attendopoly

Our own ‘monopoly’ game unique to Westlea Primary School designed by our staff. Classes work as a team to achieve 96% attendance or above to roll the dice and  move their class counter around the Seaham themed board, winning prizes for their class.

Reader, Writer and Mathematician of the week

One pupil from each class is selected for each award per week. A raffle ticket with their name is added to the termly prize draw.

Headteachers Award

Pupils across the school can be nominated – or nominate others for this award. This can be for displaying our CARE values, achievements, acts of kindness or for being a good role model.

Smilie certificates

We award bronze, silver and gold certificates are awarded for collective positive behaviour rewards.

Artist of the Month trophy

Children are invited to prepare a piece of art work based on or inspired by our artist of the month in school. Mrs Reed our art coordinator selects one of these each month to be awarded our artist of the month trophy.
